WEBSTER BEATIE
Daniel
Webster Beatie, president of Marysville (California)
Tractor and Equipment Company, was born in Anderson, California, December 8,
1886. He is the son of John and Alice (Hawes) Beatie.
His education was obtained in the
country schools of Shasta County, California, and business
college at Stockton, California.
Mr. Beatie
started in 1906 as a clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad Company and
remained with them until 1916; then bank clerk and teller at Stockton,
California, from 1916 to 1925. From 1925 to 1931 he was manager of Caterpillar
Tractor Company, dealer, at Stockton, California, and since 1931 has been
president and majority stockholder of Marysville (California) Tractor and
Equipment Company.
During World War II, he served as a
member of the local draft board, 1940 to 1946, being chairman of the board of
1948; president of local council of Boy Scouts of America; director of
Marysville Chamber of Commerce and director of California State Fair.
Member and past
president of Marysville Rotary Club; Republican; Mason, Shriner
and Jester.
Mr. Beatie
married Lucy Alford on July 22, 1913, and they have two children: Kenneth D.
and Bethel (Mrs. Roy Stilwell, Jr.).
