RULON S. TILLOTSON, M. D.

 

 

      Dr. Rulon S. Tillotson, a specialist in diseases of the ear, nose and throat and a member of the staff of the Woodland Clinic Hospital, was born in Ogden, Utah, November 19, 1895, a son of Charles and Charlotte (Squires) Tillotson, the former a native of Missouri and the latter of Utah.      In the public schools of his native city Dr. Tillotson pursued his education from Ogden high school in 1913, and then entered the University of Utah, which awarded him the B. A. degree in 1917.  During the World War period he joined the naval reserve branch of the navy, with duty in the twelfth naval district.  When mustered out of the service he resumed his studies, winning the M. D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1921.  During the period from 1921 to 1923 he served as interne at the Lakeside Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio, and as a resident surgeon in obstetrics at the Cleveland Maternity Hospital.  In 1923 he returned to the west and accepted an appointment as surgeon for the Nevada Consolidated Copper Company at Ely, Nevada, which connection was maintained from 1923 until 1927.  In the latter year he began postgraduate studies in otolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania, which conferred upon him the degree of Master of Medical Science in Otolaryngology in 1930.

      Dr. Tillotson was united in marriage to Miss Maude Ella Hester in 1924.  She is the daughter of Lush and Maree (Hume) Hester, the former a native of Kentucky and the latter of Iowa.  Her education includes a B. S. degree from the University of Utah in 1922, and M. D. degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1927, and postgraduate studies in pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.  To this marriage has been born a son, Rulon William, now two years of age.

      Dr. Rulon S. Tillotson is a member of the Yolo County and California Medical Societies, the American Medical Association, the Pacific Coast Oto-Ophthalmological Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology.
