OSCAR C. RAILSBACH, M. D.
One of the leading professional men of the Sacramento River valley is Dr. Oscar C. Railsbach, who is rendering able and valuable service as a member of the medical staff of the Woodland Clinic. He was born in Grangeville, California, in 1899, and is a son of O. W. Railsbach, who also was a native of Kings county. The paternal grandfather, Caleb Railsbach, was a pioneer rancher in the Tule lake district of Kings county. The maternal ancestors, whose family name was Latham, were among the earliest settlers in Sutter and Kings counties, this state.
Oscar C. Railsbach received his preliminary education in the grammar and high schools of Hanford and for a time was a student in the University of California. He completed his classical course in Leland Stanford University, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1922. He then matriculated in the medical school of his alma mater, receiving the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1926. He served his internship in the Leland Stanford Hospital, formerly Lane Hospital, in San Francisco, where he remained until August, 1929, when he joined the staff of the Woodland Clinic. He specializes in internal medicine and has shown himself a master of that subject, as well as a learned and skillful general practitioner.
Dr. Railsbach was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Redman, who was born in Watsonville, Santa Cruz county, California, and is a member of an old pioneer family. The Doctor attends the Methodist Episcopal Church and is a member of Yolo Fliers Club, on the golf links of which he plays an occasional game. While a student at the University of California he took an active interest in athletics, having taken part in track meets. He belongs to the Yolo County Medical Society, the California State Medical Society and the American Medical Association, and is very highly esteemed among his professional brethren. He has formed a wide acquaintance since coming to Woodland and is well liked by all who know him.
