JOHN D. LAWSON, M. D.
Dr.
John D. Lawson, secretary and business manager of the Woodland Clinic Hospital
and an experienced capable exponent of his profession, is one of California’s
native sons. He was born on a ranch five
miles northwest of Woodland, on the 5th of October, 1895, and here
acquired his grammar and high school education.
In preparation for his chosen calling he enrolled as a student in the
medical department of St. Louis University, from which he was graduated in 1920
with the M. D. degree, and while attending that institution he entered the
Medical Reserve Corps of the United States Army during the period of the World
War. When his course was completed he
began the practice of medicine and surgery in San Francisco, spending about a
year in that city, and then returned to Woodland. In August, 1928, he became secretary and
business manager of the Woodland Clinic Hospital and in addition to the efficient
discharge of his important duties in that connection he took charge of the
department of radiology, which he is still managing. Thoroughly conversant with that branch of the
profession which pertains to Roentgen rays, he utilizes his scientific knowledge
to good advantage in his efforts to cope with disease and is contributing
toward the success of one of the foremost medical institutions of the Pacific
coast region.
Dr.
Lawson was united in marriage to Miss Louise Switzer, who is also a native of
Yolo County, and both have a wide circle of friends in Woodland. Fraternally the Doctor is an Elk, belonging
to Woodland Lodge, No. 1299, while along social lines he has connection with
the Fliers Club and the Del Paso Country Club of Sacramento. He enjoys life in the open and largely finds
his recreation in golf. Through the
exercise of effort he has developed his mental powers, which have carried him
rapidly forward in his profession, and he keeps in close touch with its
progress through constant study and research as well as through his membership
in the American College of Radiology, the American Roentgen Society, the
Radiological Society of North America, the California Medical Society and the
American Medical Association.
