WILLIAM F. ROBINSON
Active
in the lumber business of California was the late William Francis Robinson, who
was accidentally killed while loading lumber on October 31, 1929. He was widely known in his vocation, and was a man of high repute and recognized ability. He was born in the state of Ohio, December
18, 1869, and there was educated and lived until his parents died. When he was twenty-seven years of age he went
to Riverside, California, and was first employed there in picking and packing
oranges. He remained in this work about
three years. He then found work in the
lumber camps near Fresno, where he remained until the forests were logged out. He afterward worked in the Tuolumne district
for the West Side Lumber Company, with which concern he remained for a number
of years, then was with the Hobart Estate near
Truckee, California, for eight years.
His next connection was with the Standard Lumber Company in Tuolumne
County, and he was with them three years or until the time of his unfortunate
and untimely death. Mr. Robinson was a
member of the Presbyterian Church, of the Knights of Pythias,
and the Knights of Khorassan.
On
August 12, 1911, occurred the marriage of Mr. Robinson and Dora Catherine Hempleman, who came from Christchurch, New Zealand,
February 1, 1911. She was on the point
of returning to her distant home in New Zealand when she met her future
husband. To this happy union there were
born two children, namely: Catherine
Rosalie and William Lee.
