Alice E. Beaizley, Alameda County, Calif. Latest address, 1033 Overton St., Los Angeles. Taught in Nape (sic) County. In April, 1885, removed with her family to New York, where she taught.

Elmer E. Brownell, Santa Clara County, Calif. Began teaching a one-teacher school in Contra Costa County. He is now principal of the Gilroy High School with 45 teachers under him, one year at Stanford. Member of County Board of Education, president Coast Section of High School Principals, president Schoolmasters' Club. Married in 1890 to Lizzie Valpey Craycroft by whom he had four children, all living. Her death occurred in 1903 and in 1909 he married Sarah Anette Whitehurst who died in 1924. In 1926 he married Katherine Gertrude Irwin. Mr. Brownell has four sons, Raymond Elmer, dentist, Carmel; John Russell, railroad man, Reno, Nevada; Harry Leslie, dentist, Monterey; and Herbert William, realtor, Gilroy.

Frank A. Butts, Contra Costa County, Calif. Taught in Plumas County. Principal of the South Vallejo School, 1888. Married January 2, 1888, to Miss Maude Walcott, a graduate of the State University.

Jessie I. Calhoun (Mrs. Wm. H. Anderson), Santa Clara County, Calif. Latest address, 1131 Geary St., San Francisco. Taught in San Francisco schools. In 1885, went to Europe, where she made a special study of elocution. After an absence of two years she returned to San Jose, and taught elocution in the University of the Pacific. Married in 1895.

Took a kindergarten course in San Francisco in spring of 1889, and received a diploma. Has done much literary work in the way of essays, letters, and poems for newspaper publication. Was connected with the training department of the Normal School for many years. Died in 1909.

Augustus W. Fisher, Santa Clara County, Calif. Taught a short time in San Diego and Fresno Counties. Diploma revoked by Board of Trustees of the Normal School, June 24, 1889.

Norma Freyschlag, Santa Clara County, Calif. Latest address, San Jose. Taught in Kern County and in San Diego County. Was injured by a falling school building during a storm in San Diego in December, 1888. In 1899 completed course in German in Kansas State University.

Studied law, and was admitted to the Supreme Court of California while yet teaching. Left the profession of teaching in June, 1887. Practiced law in San Diego. Was city superintendent six years. In 1927 practicing law in San Jose.

Frances A. Sunol (Mrs. Augus) (deceased), Alameda County, Calif. Taught at Sunol Glen, Alameda County, also in Marin County. Was gifted as a poet. Was killed in an automobile accident some years ago.

Claudia M. Thompkins (Mrs. W. A. Stephens), Yolo County, Calif. Taught at Madison. Married January 12, 1887.

Anita Whitney, Alameda County, Calif. Latest address, Carmel. Has spent time since graduation in study. Attended Wellesley College, Massachusetts. Miss Whitney was profoundly interested in social work, and her zealous espousal of the claims of the I.W.W. led her, during the World War, to be arrested under the Syndicalism act. She was convicted to fourteen years imprisonment. The decision was upheld by the higher court in 1927 but she was paroled by Governor Young. The case attracted very wide attention by reason of Miss Whitney's wealth and social position.

Was probation officer for 10 years. Superintendent of hospital in Honolulu one year. Later engaged in commercial work. Married Miss Marston of Oakland, two children – one a girl, is a practicing physician.

Thompson Hollingsworth, Santa Cruz County, Calif. Latest address, 350 South 6th St., San Jose. Taught in Santa Cruz County. Suspended work in June, 1885, to take up land in Monterey County. Married April 26, 1887, to May E. Perkins. Two children-both married. Took correspondence course in floriculture at University of California. For fifteen years did landscape gardening. Has recently retired.

Etta H. Jackson (Mrs. E. H. Remmel), Santa Clara County, Calif. Address, 2060 San Antonio Ave., Alameda. Taught in the public schools of Alameda since July, 1885.

Henrietta E. Kingdon (Mrs. Dr. Herbert N. Rowell), Sierra County, Calif. Latest address, 3158 College Avenue, Berkeley. Taught in Scales to December, 1887. Entered Cooper Medical College from which she was graduated in 1890. For one year she was interne in the Children's Hospital in San Francisco, and was then married to Dr. Tubert N. Rowell, Mrs. Rowell's activities besides rearing of her two children have been many and varied, including besides the home, church, school and state. For five years she was president of the California Congress of Parents and Teachers, and for nine years she was treasurer of the national organization of Parents and Teachers. At this writing, (1927) she is chairman of the budget committee.

Hattie V. Martin (Mrs. C. H. Walsh), Santa Clara County, Calif. Latest address, Box 321 East Auburn. Taught in Sacramento County. Since the summer of 1886 has been teaching in San Francisco, Pacific Heights School. Married in 1903.

Lottie J. Matthis, Monterey County, Calif. Latest address, 111 West Third St., East Liverpool, Ohio. Taught in Monterey County and in Franklin School near San Jose. Resigned teaching to enter Salvation Army. Has worked in Honolulu and in Europe. In 1904 married Captain Julius H. Abraham of the Salvation Army.

Ellen M. McCuen (deceased), Uno, Eldorado County, Calif. Taught in Eldorado County until 1894. Died in 1897.

C. Maude McIntosh (Mrs. Charles Milne), Vancouver, B.C. She taught a short time in Vancouver. Was married in 1900.

Mary R. McLay, 2482 Mission St., San Francisco. Taught in San Francisco.

Hans J. Miller, 1624 West St., Oakland, Calif. Taught until 1898. At that time was traveling for a book firm. In 1912 visited the Normal School. In 1927 was still in Oakland.

Margaret B. Morrison (Mrs. Fred W. Wilson), Winters, Calif. Taught for two years. Married Fred W. Wilson in 1892. Now a widow.

Mary B. Palmerlee (Mrs. M. S. Brown), 913 Hoyt St., Saginaw, Mich. Taught until 1892 when she married and moved to Michigan.

Rose Patterson (Mrs. Charles B. Blakeman), 1318 West 11th St., Los Angeles. Taught until 1895 when she entered Stanford University. Attended Stanford again in 1898 and was graduated. She afterwards taught in Los Angeles. Married March 31, 1901.

Theodora Payne (Mrs. Edward A. Nis) (deceased), Taught at St. Matthews Hall, San Mateo County. Attended Radcliff College and Stanford and received her degree. She went with her husband – a mining engineer to South Africa where she lived for five years. Her death occurred at Pacific Grove in 1912. She had no children.

Mamie J. Russell, 710 Mildreada, Fresno, Calif. In 1905 entered Fresno school department.

J. Runyan Sanford (deceased). Taught until 1897. Resigned to enter journalism. He was member of Assembly six years, Senator four years. Editor of Dispatch-Democrat, Ukiah seven years. Met an accidental death in San Francisco in August, 1928.

Lizzie A. West (Mrs. L. L. Washburn), Glendora, Los Angeles County, Calif. Taught most of the time in the southern part of the state. Married December, 1893 to L.L. Washburn. Gave up teaching in 1897.

Edith Whitehurst, San Jose, Calif. Taught most of the time in this county. In 1898 was teaching at Willow Glen.

Frances Brotherton (Mrs. Arthur C. Canfield), Springfield, Ill. Taught in the northern part of the state until 1898. Then in Los Angeles city schools. Married November, 1897.

Lillie B. Clinton (Mrs. B. W. Scribner), San Jose, Calif. Taught in northern part of the state. Married June, 1893.

Alice Crawford (Mrs. Hellmuth), Yreka, Calif. Taught in northern part of the state. Attended Aural and Optholmic Institute in San Francisco and received diploma. Engaged in Optical work in Shasta County. Later she taught again until 1906. She married in 1915, and owing to the shortage of teachers took the school at Montague near her home.

Katie L. Cull (Mrs. Orr), Pomona, Calif. Taught until 1892 when she married.

Serena M. Davis (Mrs. Alex B. Fletcher), Porterville, Calif. Taught in the northern part of the state and in this county. Was principal of Moreland school in 1901. Was married in 1902. Is now a widow engaged in orange growing. Has one daughter- a teacher.

Anna Dickson, Tabor, Calif. Taught at Auburn. Married December 25, 1896.

M. Eliza Diggles, Ft. Jones, Siskiyou County, Calif. Taught until she entered Stanford, 1896.

Virginia G. Dixon, Warm Springs, Calif. Taught in Monterey County, and at Warm Springs.

William P. Doyle, Los Angeles, Calif. Taught in Monterey and in Santa Clara County, most of the time as principal. In 1916 was living in Los Angeles.

Merritt Eley (Mrs. W. H. Dresser) (deceased), Taught in this state and in Arizona. Married July, 1897. Died at Bowie, Arizona June, 1899.

Agnes G. Erb (Mrs. Frank Devlin), 2945 Ashby Ave., Berkeley, Calif. Taught in Napa. Was Deputy County Superintendent for a year and a half. Vice-principal of Napa school.

Caroline L. Fiedler, Sausalito, Calif. Taught in Sausalito. Attended University of California. Taught in training department of San Jose State Normal School. When last heard from was doing social service work under Bishop Nichols in San Mateo County.

Grant P. Hatch, San Francisco, Calif.   Kept books for a time, then began teaching until his marriage in 1897 when he engaged in mercantile business. Took work in San Jose Business College.

Maude Henley (Mrs. John Henderson), Elko, Nevada.   Taught in Elko, Nevada until marriage in 1892.

Geneva B. Hensill (Mrs. F. P. Ashworth), 375 N. 15th St., San Jose, Calif.   Taught for a few years, then married Dr. Frank P. Ashworth and resided in San Francisco until her husband's health failed. Since that time has been living in San Jose and teaching at Saratoga.

Fannie Hines (Mrs. A. J. Waterhouse), 532 Geary St., San Francisco, Calif.   Taught in the northern part of the state; also in Tulare and in Fresno Counties. Married in 1895. Visited the Normal school in 1900.

Marion E. Holmes (deceased),   Taught in Sonoma County. Graduated from Stanford. Daughter of first president of this school. Her death occurred some years ago.

Emma W. Houlton (Mrs. A. C. Haslam), Riverdale, Fresno County, Calif.   Taught quite continuously. Married August 25, 1897.

Emma G. Ingemunndsen, Napa City, Calif.   Taught in Napa.

Selma I. Ingemundsen (Mrs. F. C. Harvey), Alvarado, Calif.   Taught near home.

Leontine C.L. Janssen, 2941 Summit St., Oakland, Calif.   Taught in different places in the state until 1896. She began in the Oakland public schools, but resigned on account of ill health. Has for years been engaged in welfare work.

Loma E. Jordan, 20 Hensely Ave., San Jose, Calif.   Taught continuously in this county. At last writing (1897) was teaching at the Horace Mann School, San Jose.

Marguerite L. Joyes, 160 2Turk St., San Francisco, Calif.   Taught in Monterey County and later in San Mateo County.

Ada Karr (deceased), Died June 3, 1905, in San Jose.

Julia E. Kelly (Mrs. D. N. Carrington), 788 President St., Brooklyn, N.Y.    Taught until her marriage in 1893, when she moved to Orange, New Jersey.

Pearl Kelton, 930 Pine St., San Francisco, Calif.   Taught in Napa County, and in 1897 began teaching in San Francisco schools.

Ella B. Kennedy (Mrs. Caesar), 706 13th St., Oakland, Calif.   Taught continuously in Santa Cruz and in Santa Clara County and in the Longfellow school, San Jose.

Alice S. Kingdon, Scales, Sierra County, Calif.   Taught only during the summer, most of the time in Sierra County.

M. Ettie Kinney, 455 Coleridge Ave., Palo Alto, Calif.   Graduate of Stanford. Member of Normal Faculty until she retired in 1921. Traveled extensively.

Robert A. Lee, 740 E. 8th St., San Jose, Calif.   Has taught continuously in Yolo,  Alameda, and Santa Clara Counties. Has been for years past principal of the Lowell Grammar School, San Jose. He is also part time supervisor of the teacher training department in the Teachers College.

Thomas B. W. Leland, 1910 Vallejo St., San Francisco, Calif.   Mr. Leland graduated from the medical department of the University of California in 1894. At this writing (1894) he is coroner in San Francisco.

Echo L. Loder, Reno, Nevada.   Taught in Reno. Was for eight years principal of Reno grammar school. In 1920 went to Columbia for further study.

Ida M. Love, Danville, Calif.   Taught in Placer and in Santa Cruz Counties. In 1898 was teaching in San Jose and was vice principal of Lowell Grammar School. She continued in the San Jose school department until her retirement, since which time she has resided at her home in Danville, and during the summer spends some months at Mt. Hermon. Active in church and Sunday school work.

Louise M. McCarthy, San Jose, Calif.   Taught in San Benito and Monterey Counties. In 1900 when last heard from, was teaching Mountain District, Monterey County.

Verne McGeorge, 2604 G. St., Sacramento, Calif.   Taught in Eureka. Entered Stanford in 1892 and again in 1899. He was graduated from Stanford in 1900 and is a practicing attorney in Sacramento. Married Annabel Myers in 1914.

Katie M. McKean (Mrs. Catherine Tee), 465 11th St., Astoria, Oregon.   Taught in primary grades of Astoria, Oregon until her marriage in 1895.

Anna M. Nichols (Mrs. J. B. McLaughlin), Fairfield, Calif.   Taught in Shasta County. Married January 3, 1894. Taught for a short time. Has three children.

Emily A. Nowell, College Park, Calif.   Taught in Sonoma County. Attended Stanford. Was vice-principal Sunol School, San Jose in 1898.

Nellie O'Brien, 303 S. 14th St., San Jose, Calif.   Taught and substituted in Santa Clara County for several years. Was supervisor in State Normal Training Department for thirteen years, and then resigned and became principal of the Washington Grammar School. When the Woodrow Wilson Junior High School was established she became principal, a position she holds at present (1927).

Etta L. Ogden, Hydesville, Humboldt County, Calif.   Most of her teaching has been in Humboldt County. In 1903 was teaching in Jane school as principal.

Lizzie Ralph (Mrs. Harold P. Dyer), Saratoga, Calif.   Taught until her marriage in 1891.

Frank M. Rutherford (deceased), After teaching in Butte County went to Truckee and became principal of school. Married and has two children. Became editor of the Truckee Republican.

Julia Sander, Lincoln, Placer County, Calif.   Taught in Placer County. In 1900 accepted position in Redlands, San Bernardino County.

Eva E. Senf, 1116 Guerrero St., San Francisco. Taught in San Luis Obispo and Lake Counties. In 1900 was working in Western Union Telegraph office, San Francisco.

Elizabeth Smead, San Jose, Calif. Taught in Fresno County, then Santa Clara County. At last report in 1898 was teaching in the Sunol School in Hester district, San Jose.

Emily S. Smith, Centerville, Calif. Taught in Fresno County, and then in Marin County.

Harriet M. Smith (Mrs. Will A. Latta) (deceased), Taught until her marriage in 1892.

Katie R. Smith, Evergreen, Santa Clara County, Calif. Address, Bob 185 R.C., San Jose. Taught continuously since graduation, part of the time as principal. In 1906 was principal of Evergreen school. At present time, (1907) is teaching at the Grant school, San Jose.  Has traveler in eastern states, Hawaii, Alaska, Yosemite, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. Spent a year in Europe.

Nellie Snowden, Oak Park, Sacramento, Calif. Taught continuously. Last report showed her as teaching at Crow's Landing, Stanislaus County.

Helen M. Sprague, 798S. 8th St., San Jose, Calif. Taught near Hollister. Graduated from Stanford in 1899. Taught in Gilroy High School until she entered the faculty of the San Jose State Normal School in 1903. As assistant librarian, secretary to the president and instructor in the English department she has remained. At this date (1927) she is still a valued member of the staff of the Teachers College.

Ellen C. Stanton, Placerville, Calif. Has taught most of the time in El Dorado County.

Minnie G. Stevens (Mrs. S. K. Williams), Colfax, Calif. Teaching has been in the Colfax public schools. Married in 1898 and since then has been a member of the Board of Education.

Helen S. Sumner (Mrs. Arthur W. Covert), Ceres, Calif. Taught up to her marriage in January, 1896.

Fred H. Tebbe, Weed, Calif. Taught in Siskiyou County. Graduated from the medical department of the University of California in 1902. In 1904 was married to May Suchens, a graduate of this school in 1900. He is a practicing physician in Weed, and visited this school in 1912.

Laura M. Tilden (Mrs. Ray), Denver, Colo. Taught for a time but studied law in 1893 was admitted to the bar by the Supreme Court of Nevada. She practiced with her father, Judge Tilden, at Virginia City, and later went to Sacramento to practice. The judges who conducted the examination for her credentials as a practicing attorney said that she passed with a marked distinction which in all their experience they had never before seen. After the death of her father in 1896 she married, and for the benefit of her health removed to Denver, Colo.

Jennie C. Towns, 6524 Stewart Avenut (sic), Chicago, Oll. (sic) Taught until 1898 when she went to Chicago and took a kindergarten course, afterwards teaching in the Armour Kindergarten school, Chicago.

Minnie C. Townsend (deceased). Taught at Suisun. Died March 10, 1894.

Mary W. Tyrrell, 961 Kirkham St., Oakland, Calif. Taught in the Oakland school department. Special student at the University of California in Botany.

Gertrude A. Vinzent, 604 17th St., Oakland, Calif. Taught in Oakland school part of the time had private classes.

Ada M. Weld, Evergreen, Santa Clara County, Calif. Taught in this county and in Nevada, at Elko.

Hattie B. Wells, Married James Dunham, and was murdered by him in 1896, together with five other members of the family. Her son, a baby at the time, was adopted by relatives.

Emma Wightman, 457 Guerrero St., San Francisco. Took a special course at the University of California. Later taught in Sonoma County, and again entered University in Medical department.

Keziah T. Williams (Mrs. J. Will Jones), Lakeport, Calif. After teaching in this state she went to Douglas Alaska in 1897 and taught there for a time. Was married and returned to Lakeport.

Cornelia Woodand (Mrs. C. C. Bigelow), Yolo, Yolo County, Calif. Taught until 1898. In 1893 was married.

Mary R.A. Yore (deceased). Taught until 1893. Her death was reported to have occurred in 1894.
