Biographies
HENRY B. KNIGHT
HENRY B. KNIGHT, a farmer of
Castoria Township, was born in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was reared
and educated up to the age of eighteen, when he started for California,
arriving at Dutch Flat. He went on to Lathrop, San Joaquin County, where he was
employed by H. Cowell four years. At the end of that time he rented 1,500 acres
of land which he sowed to wheat; harvested that year, 15,000 sacks of wheat.
After this successful year he bought the old Barber Place, containing 160
acres, on which he now resides. It is situated about five miles southeast of
French Camp and four miles east of Lathrop. In the year 1889 he had 660 acres
sowed to wheat and ninety acres sowed to rye.
Mr. Knight was married to Miss Lottie
Koch, April 22, 1883. They have two children, viz: Ralph D. and Francis A.
