GEORGE
ARMAND DITZ
George
Armand Ditz, attorney, was born June 5, 1889, in Stockton, California. The son of George and Mary (Troescher)
Ditz.
He attended public schools in
Stockton. Graduated from Stanford University in 1911 with the A.B. degree;
studied at Harvard Law School, 1911 to 1912; then completed his legal education
at Stanford Law School, 1912 to 1913, where he received his J.D. degree. He was
admitted to the California State Bar in 1913.
Mr. Ditz began law practice in
Stockton, where he was a partner in the firm of Neumiller
& Ditz from 1916 to 1945. Since 1946, the firm has been Neumiller,
Ditz, Beardslee &
Sheppard.
Since 1942, Mr. Ditz has been a
member of the Board of Trustees of Stanford University; president of Stanford Associates,
1937 to 1941; president of Stanford Alumni Association, 1936; chairman of San
Joaquin County Chapter of American Red Cross, 1943 and War Fund Chairman, 1944
to 1946; member of National Board of Governors, American National Red Cross,
1947 to 1450; (sic) deputy for Volunteers, Pacific Area, and chairman Pacific
Area Advisory Council, American National Red Cross, 1952-1953; member of Board
of Directors of San Joaquin-Calaveras Council of Boy Scouts of America since
1936; trustee of Katharine Branson School, Ross, California, since 1947; member
of Board of Directors of San Joaquin Pioneer and Historical Society, Stockton.
He is member of the San Joaquin
County Bar Association, State Bar of California and American Bar Association;
California Historical Society; Rancheros Visitadores,
Santa Barbara, California, Sonoma County Trail Blazers, Santa Rosa, California;
Phi Delta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa fraternities; Yosemite Club of Stockton, and
Bohemian Club of San Francisco, California.
Mr. Ditz married Janet True Adams on
June 3, 1914, and they have three children: Janet True (Mrs. Lawrence C. Ford),
George Armand, Jr. and John Adams.
