IREDDI ZUNINO
Ireddi
Zunino, junior partner of the firm of Brunelli & Zunino, at Weed, is a
wide-awake and energetic business man, who has not only gained material success
since coming to this city, but has also won the genuine respect of the people
of the community. He was born in Italy
on the 21st of July, 1889, and is a son of Bernardo and Buscaglia
(Mariea) Zunino. The parents, who were
farming folk, never left their native land and both are now deceased.
Ireddi Zunino remained at home
until seventeen years of age, acquiring his education in the public
schools. In 1906 he came to the United
States, locating in La Moine, Shasta County, California, where he was employed
in a factory for two years. About 1908
he went to Hilt, Siskiyou County, where he was employed at factory work for a
short time, and then came to Weed, where he has since resided. For nine years he was employed in the factory
of the Weed Lumber Company, but in 1918 resigned and, forming a partnership
with Emilio Brunelli, under the firm name of Brunelli & Zunino, engaged in
the grocery and meat business. In this
enterprise they have been very successful, carrying a large and well selected
stock, and commanding the trade of the representative people of the city. Mr. Zunino has charge of the meat department
and his partner looks after the grocery end of the business. Mr. Zunino is a member of the Sons of Italy
and is extremely popular in his community, being a man of great industry,
sterling character, and agreeable manner.
