S. TOSKAS
Among Weed’s energetic and enterprising
business men is numbered S. Toskas, the owner of
the Dew-Drop-Inn, a place for public entertainment which has attained well
deserved popularity, owing to the very fine service rendered and to the
courtesy and attention of the proprietor. He was born in Greece in 1896, and
was there reared and educated to the age of sixteen years. He came to the
United States in 1912 and first located in Lowell, Massachusetts, where he
remained for seven months. He then went to Manchester, New Hampshire, where he
stayed but a short time, coming from there to California.
Locating in San Francisco, he went to work
in a government factory as a machinist, in which capaciity
[sic] he was employed for five years. He came to Weed in 1921 and for
several years was employed at various occupations. He is now the owner of a
place of entertainment which has gained a wide and favorable reputation
throughout this section of the valley, and in connection with it he also
conducts a soft drink parlor. The Dew-Drop-Inn is located near the main
highway, a very advantageous situation, and is largely patronized. Mr. Toskas belongs to Weed Lodge, No. 924,
L. O. O. M., among the members of which he is popular, while
throughout the community he is greatly esteemed.
