V. E. FISHER

      V. E. Fisher, one of Weed’s able and successful business men, is a member of the firm of Fisher & Wilson, who own an up-to-date sporting goods store, pool room and soft drink parlor, located on the main street of the town.  He was born in Manchester, Indiana, on the 26th of August, 1899, and is a son of S. C. and Lizzie (Parrett) Fisher.  The family came to the Pacific coast in 1912, locating in Oregon, where the father was engaged in farming to the time of his death.  The mother survives and resides at Roseburg, that state.

      V. E. Fisher was educated in the grade schools and lived at home until 1920, when, about the time he attained his majority, he came to Weed and here followed the carpenter trade until 1929, when he became a member of the firm of Fisher & Wilson.  They conduct a sporting goods store which is the headquarters for fishermen and hunters throughout this locality.  They carry a good line of sporting and athletic goods and are courteous and accommodating in their relations with the public.  A special feature of their store is the information for hunters and fishermen which they provide.

In 1926 Mr. Fisher was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Burch, who was born and reared in California.  Her parents, D. C. and Amelia (Peters) Burch, came across the plains in 1850, and the father, who is now retired, always followed the occupation of farming.  Mr. Fisher is a member of Ashland (Ore.) Lodge, No. 944, B. P. O. E., and Roseburg Aerie, No. 1494, F. O. E., at Roseburg, Oregon.  Cordial and friendly in manner, dependable in all of his business relations and a strong booster for Weed, he is one of this community’s popular and respected citizens.
