LOUIS DURIGHELLO

One of Weed’s most successful young business men is Louis Durighello, who is owner of one of the leading grocery stores of this locality and is one of the community’s most popular citizens. He was born in Italy, on the 11th of February, 1898, and is a son of Giovanni and Victoria (Simioni) Durighello, who recently came to the United States and now reside in Weed. The father was a merchant in his home town.

Louis Durighello came to America in 1922, landing at New York city, where he remained for a short time. From there he came to California, and entered the employ of the Long-Bell Lumber Company at Weed. About six months later he went to work in the store which he now owns, holding that position for three or four years. Later, in San Francisco, he managed a Piggly Wiggly store for about one and a half years. On his return to Weed he bought out his old employer and during the past four years, under the firm name of Durighello Brothers, has conducted a prosperous retail grocery business. He carries a clean, fresh and well selected stock of goods, including all vegetables and fruits in season, to the value of about five thousand dollars, which is turned over many times during the year.

Mr. Durighello was united in marriage to Miss Thelma Hatton, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, whose parents came from New Mexico. Her father, whose home is in Klamath Falls, Oregon, is a miner and contractor. Mr. Durighello gives his political support to the democratic party and his religious connection is with the Roman Catholic Church. He belongs to the Foresters of America at Weed. Hunting and fishing are his favorite diversions from the routine of business. He is intensely loyal to the spirit and institutions of his adopted country, shows a real interest in everything that affects the welfare of his community and is worthy of the high place which he holds in public regard.
