EMILIO BRUNELLI
One of Weed’s most highly esteemed
citizens and successful merchants in Emilio Brunelli, who conducts an
up-to-date grocery and meat market as a member of the firm of Brunelli &
Zunino, and has built up a business of which he has reason to be proud. He was born in Italy, on the 14th
of March, 1874, and is a son of Constantino and Clementina (Aguzzi)
Brunelli. The former was a merchant, and
both died in their native land.
Emilio Brunelli was reared and
educated at home and lived there until 1903, when he came to the United
States. Settling in McCloud, Siskiyou
County, California, he spent seven years in the employ of the McCloud Lumber
Company, and then came to Weed. He went
to work for the Weed Lumber Company, with which concern he was connected until
1917, when he resigned and went into business for himself, as a member of the
firm of Brunelli & Zunino. They
opened a grocery and meat market, have made steady advancement during the subsequent
years and now carry a six thousand dollar stock of goods, such as meets the
requirements of the local trade. Close
attention to the needs and tastes of their patrons, uniformly courteous
treatment and fair dealing have gained for them the confidence of the people
and they well merit the success which is now theirs.
Mr. Brunelli is a charter member of
the Sons of Italy, while his religious faith is that of the Roman Catholic
Church. He is fond of outdoor life,
hunting and fishing being his favorite sports, though he is essentially a
business man and gives close attention to his commercial interests. He is generous and kindly, gives freely to
benevolent and charitable causes, and throughout the community where he lives
is greatly respected.
