RIZIERI ACQUISTAPACE
Rizieri Acquistapace, who is
associated with the Black Butte pool room and soft drink parlor at Weed, is
well and favorably known throughout the town, for he comes of one of its best Italian
families and has proven a loyal and honorable citizen. He was born in Italy, on the 29th
of June, 1903, a son of Joseph and Anna (Girolli) Acquistapace. The
father came to this country, locating at Santa Rosa, California, in 1907, and
there engaged in farming. His wife and
their children followed him two years later and now make their home in Weed,
where the father is employed in the lumber yards of Long-Bell Lumber
Company. To him and his wife were born
eight sons, all of whom live in Weed. Three
of them are ball players and are members of the Sons of Italy baseball
team. Three of the boys are still
attending school at this place.
Rizieri Acquistapace received his
educational training in the public schools, after which he worked at various occupations,
as a bakery employee, as a grocery clerk, a truck driver—in fact, he was ready
to do anything by which he might earn an honest dollar. He is now the chief clerk and attendant of
the Black Butte pool room and soft drink parlor and because of his personal
popularity and the excellent service which he renders to patrons of the place,
is extremely popular. He has been
successful and owns his home, being regarded as one of Shastina’s
enterprising young business men. The
Black Butte pool room is owned by his brother-in-law, Mr. Groppi,
on whom personal mention is made on other pages of this work.
On
December 21, 1921, Mr. Acquistapace was united in
marriage with Miss Maria Mezzolini who is a native of
Siskiyou County, where she has always lived.
Her mother is deceased, and her father, who is retired, lives in
Weed. Mr. Acquistapace
is a member of the Sons of Italy in Weed and the Ancient Order of the Druids at
Mount Shasta. He is a young man of
sterling qualities and well merits the high place which he holds in the esteem
of those who know him.
