DAVID ZELLERBACH
James
David Zellerbach, president of Crown Zellerbach Corporation, was born January 17, 1892, in San
Francisco, California. The son of Isadore
and Jennie (Baruh) Zellerbach.
His preparatory education was
obtained at University of California from which he graduated in 1913 with the
degree of B.S.
Mr. Zellerbach
is president and director of Crown Zellerbach Corportion, San Francisco, California; chairman of Board of
Directors of Fibreboard Products, Inc.; director of Wells
Fargo Bank and Union Trust Company.
Director of Mt. Zion Hospital San
Francisco; executive vice president and member of Board of Governors of
Symphony Association of San Francisco; member of Board of Trustees of San
Francisco Museum of Art; director of Stanford Research Institute, also of Sugar
Bowl Corporation; member of Board of Directors of National Industrial
Conference Board; member of Board of Trustees of Committee for Economic
Development; member of Board of Governors of San Francisco Bay Area Council;
director of Far East-America Council of Commerce and Industry; president and
trustee of World Affairs Council of Northern California; director and member of
Executive Committee of Rayonier Incorporated; chairman of National Manpower
Council; director of National Conference of Christians and Jews; University of
California Alumnus of the Year, 1949; director of San Francisco Opera
Association; and member of executive committee of Committee for a Free Asia.
Mr. Zellerbach
was Chief of United States Special Mission to Italy for Economic Cooperation;
United States Employer delegate and also vice chairman of Governing Body,
International Organization for Industrial Employers.
Member of
California State Chamber of Commerce and United States Chamber of Commerce
(member of Labor Relations Committee). Of Jewish
religion. Member of the following clubs: Concordia-Argonaut, San
Francisco Commercial, Stock Exchange Lunch, St. Francis Yacht; and Bankers of
America (New York).
Mr. Zellerbach
married Hana Fuld on June
29, 1916, and has two sons, James David, Jr. and Richard Calvert. Their home is
at 2790 Broadway, San Francisco, California.
