GEORGE
VENTURI
Member of one of the prominent Italian families of San Francisco, George Venturi is now successfully engaged as an insurance broker in this city, where he was born February 22, 1889. He is a son of Peter and Sabatina (Simonette) Venturi, who came to San Francisco from their native Italy in the year 1878. The father was quite active in the Italian colony, and resided in this city until his death in 1919. He was survived by his widow until 1927. They were the parents of five children, all of whom are living.
George Venturi received his education in the Irving primary school and the Washington grammar school. He was then engaged in the commission business until the United States entered the World war in 1917, at which time he enlisted in the army and served for eleven months in the supply division. Receiving his honorable discharge, he was then employed as a clerk in the law office of N. Coughan for a period of ten years, at the expiration of which time he established himself in the insurance brokerage business, his present occupation, and in which he has achieved prosperity and a business of wide proportions.
Mr. Venturi was married to Miss Norma Urate, a native daughter of San Francisco, and to their union has been born a daughter, Norine.
In the Italian colony of San Francisco, Mr. Venturi is one of the prominent figures, following in the footsteps of his honored father in upholding the fine prestige of his race in the bay district. He is a member of the Sons of Italy, and of the Order of Druids, of which latter organization he is past president. Hunting is his chief diversion when opportunity offers.
