San Francisco County
Biographies
Gustave
Touchard, a promising young member of the bar of San
Francisco, was born in this city in 1859. His father was a native of
France, who emigrated to America in 1851, and was one
of the early settlers of California. He was at one time President of the
Union Insurance Company, and was prominently identified with the insurance
interests on the coast for many years. He was an honored resident of this
city up to the time of his death, which occurred in 1888; his widow now resides
in Oakland.
Gustave Touchard attended
the public schools during his boyhood, and afterwards entered the university,
where he took the prescribed course of study. When he determined upon the
profession of law as his life work, he entered the Hastings College of Law, and
was admitted to the bar in 1881. Since that time he has been successfully
engaged in the practice of law in this city.
Mr. Touchard is a prominent member of the Young Men's
Institute of San Francisco.
