MARK R.
SULLIVAN
Mark R.
Sullivan, president of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company, San Francisco,
was born February 1, 1896, in Oakland, California. He is the son of Robert E.
and Margaret (Tierney) Sullivan. Received his education in the public schools
of San Francisco.
Mr. Sullivan became associated with
the Pacific Company at San Francisco, California, in 1912. First as traffic
clerk, then traffic student, 1912-13; traffic inspector, 1913-15; general
traffic manager 1928-1934; vice president and general manager 1934-1938; first
vice president 1939-1941; president since 1947. He was vice president of the
American Telephone and Telegraph Company, New York, from 1942 to 1945;
president of The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Companies, Washington, D.C.
from 1945 to 1947.
Mr. Sullivan married Alice Newkirk
on May 12, 1917, and has one daughter, Patricia. Their home is at 2222 Hyde
Street, San Francisco, California.
