FERDINAND
CONRAD SMITH
Ferdinand
Conrad Smith, stockbroker, was born December 19, 1892, in Portland, Oregon; the
son of Charles C. and Clara L. (Smith) Smith.
He received his primary education at
Portland (Oregon) Academy and Milton (Massachusetts) Academy.
From 1919 to 1927 Mr. Smith was
sales manager for the Peninsula Lumber Company, Portland, Oregon; then for E. A
Pierce & Company, Portland, Oregon, from 1927 to 1940, becoming manager of
the Portland Branch during the last two years of association with the company.
Since 1940 he has been associated with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Beane, first as
resident partner of the Portland Branch from 1940 to 1942, and, since 1942,
resident partner of the San Francisco Branch
Mr. Smith is chairman of the
Governing Board of the San Francisco Stock Exchange; vice president of the
Downtown Association; and associate member of the New York Stock Exchange.
Member of the Pacific-Union Club,
Burlingame Country Cub and San Francisco Golf Club; belongs to the Unitarian
Church.
Mr. Smith married Margery Hoffman.
Their home is at 825 Francisco Street, San Francisco, California.
