THOMAS J.
SHERIDAN
Thomas J. Sheridan, who is now United States referee in bankruptcy in the city of San Francisco, has had an honored legal career in this city, extending over a quarter of a century. He was born on an Iowa farm on the 27th of December in the year 1865, and his parents were Bernard and Catharine (Butler) Sheridan.
Mr. Sheridan was graduated from Norte Dame University at South Bend, Indiana, in 1886, and from the law department of the State University of Iowa at Iowa City in 1888. In 1892 he established himself in law practice in Lakeport, Lake county, California, and there remained for ten years, during which interval he gained high repute as a counselor, and represented that district in the state assembly in 1901. In 1903 he removed to San Francisco. He has engaged in practice here with marked success, and has been associated at various times with such well known attorneys as the late W. T. Bagget, Lloyd S. Ackerman and United States Senator Samuel M. Shortridge. Mr. Sheridan served as assistant United States attorney from 1921 to 1928, and on July 13 of the latter year he was appointed United States referee in bankruptcy. His offices are now situated at 350-355 Russ building, 235 Montgomery street. He is a member of the California State Bar and the American Bar Association and is a director in the National Association of Referees in Bankruptcy.
In social and civic circles of San Francisco, Mr. Sheridan holds a place in concordance with his position of repute in his profession. He is a member of the Commonwealth Club of this city, and has manifested a sincere spirit of cooperation in local activities of merit.
