SIDNEY
L. SCHWARTZ
Sidney
L. Schwartz, senior partner in Sutro & Company,
Bankers and Brokers, was born in San Francisco, California, on January 3, 1886;
the son of William and Henrietta (Gump) Schwartz.
Graduated from Lowell High School, San
Francisco, in 1904 and then was a student at University of California for two
years, 1904-06.
Mr. Schwartz has been associated
with Sutro & Company since 1906 (members of New
York Stock Exchange), bankers and brokers, San Francisco, California, and since
1930 is senior partner in the company.
He is vice president and director of
River Farms Company of California; trustee and treasurer of Fogel
Loan Fund, and a director of Mt. Zion Hospital Assn.
Member of Investment Bankers
Association, San Francisco Stock Exchange (president, 1923-30, 1942-44);
governor of New York Stock Exchange 1944-1951.
Mr. Schwartz is a Republican; of
Hebrew religion; Mason; and member of the following clubs: Stock Exchange,
Rotary, Commonwealth, Merced Golf and Country; past president, Old Time
Athletes Assn.
On June 22, 1913, Mr. Schwartz
married Alice Wolff and has two daughters: Marie Louise (Mrs. Alfred Barnston) and Elizabeth (Mrs. Jack V. Cosgriff).
