DANIEL A.
RYAN
For thirty years, Daniel A. Ryan has been one of the most successful and popular members of the bar in San Francisco, and is now specializing in trial work, with offices in the Hearst building. He was born in this city August 24, 1873, and is a son of Daniel and Mary Ryan.
During his career in the practice of law, Mr. Ryan has conducted much litigation of importance, and is recognized as one well informed in his profession and unquestionably ethical in all of his methods. He spent ten years in the office of General W. H. L. Barnes, one of the foremost lawyers of California, and for a number of years Mr. Ryan was attorney for the board of harbor commissioners. He is now attorney for the firm of O’Connor, Moffat & Company, in which he is also a director.
Mr. Ryan was married to Miss Josephine Louise Cooney, and to their union have been born three daughters: Elaine, who is the wife of William H. Wallace, and resides in Berkeley, California; Kathleen, who is married to Ward Hill von Tillow and lives in Santa Rosa, California; and Mary Margaret, who is at this writing a student at the University of California.
In politics, Mr. Ryan has always given his support to the republican party and has been very active in the ranks of this political organization. As chairman of the republican state central committee, he had charge of the progressive campaign for Theodore Roosevelt and Hiram Johnson. He is past grand president of Grand Parlor of the Native Sons of the Golden West, and also belongs to the Knights of Columbus and the Olympic Club. As a citizen of San Francisco, he has been loyal and public-spirited, and has lent his influence and support to all local affairs which he has considered of merit and benefit to the company.
