V. (Regutenko) Russel, M.D.
Leokadia
V. (Regutenko) Russel, M.D., the wife of Dr. Nicholas Russel, is a native of Russia,
and a graduate of the medical department of the University of
Berne, Switzerland. She received her
early education at Odessa. After
graduating in medicine, she entered the medical service of the Russian army, in
the Turko-Russian war, and was appointed ordinator of a first-class military
hospital at Rustschick. She was later in
charge of a civil hospital at that place for several years. During the recent war between Servia and
Bulgaria, she again had charge of a military hospital, where she made the
acquaintance of her husband, Dr Nicholas Russel. After the conclusion of that war and her
marriage, they came to California, where they have been engaged in the practice
of their profession since 1887.
