J. Mariano Roma

 

J. M. Roma, of the firm of Cambrera, Roma & Co., commission merchants at No. 123 California street, San Francisco.  This firm occupies a leading position among the great commission houses of the metropolis, and enjoys an extensive and increasing trade, its operations constituting an important feature of the aggregate business transactions of the city.  The specialties of the firm are the importation of Central America coffee.  They have also a large and growing trade with Mexico, having agencies in the principal cities, and altogether the house does a business of importance.  It is well known for its enterprise and honorable dealing.  The business was established under the present firm in 1876, and is a combination of business capacity and reliability.

            J. M. Roma, our subject, was born in Guatemala in 1839.  He came to California in 1876, and began an active business life the same year, and has been very successful in his enterprises.  He is a prominent member of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.
