GEORGE W. PERSONENI

Ranking among the leaders in the Italian citizenship of San Francisco, George W. Personeni is now vice president and treasurer of the Personeni Drug Stores, Incorporated, a branch of the Joseph Personeni Corporation of New York city, the largest importers of Italian medicines and table luxuries in the eastern metropolis.

George W. Personeni was born in New York city, August 25, 1900, and is a son of Joseph and Angela (Bertini) Personeni. His father is president of the corporation and resides in New York city, but frequently visits San Francisco, keeping in close touch with the affairs of the Pacific coast trade. He and his wife are the parents of five children, all of whom are living.

In the acquirement of an education George W. Personeni attended the common schools of New York city, St. Francis Xavier Military Academy and the Hamilton Institute, being a graduate of the last named. He also pursued a law course at New York University. For two years thereafter, he was employed as a salesman for his father’s corporation, and then became manager of the branch office at 634 Montgomery street in San Francisco. He retained this position from 1922 until December 15, 1930, at which time Joseph Personeni acquired the property at 1500 Stockton street and moved the business to this location. Then the new corporation of Personeni Drug Stores of California was organized, Joseph Personeni becoming president; George W. Personeni, vice president and treasurer; and Julia Personeni, the wife of George W., secretary. Large display rooms and offices are maintained in San Francisco. It is an established fact that ninety per cent of the Italian medicines and table luxuries entering the port of New York are imported through the main office of the Personeni organization.
