D. MACLEAN, M. D.

D. Maclean, M.D., whose office is in St. Ann's Building, has been a resident of San Francisco since 1879, and has practiced medicine during that time.  He was born in Prince Edward Island, in 1843, and his education was received in Charlottetown, graduating at the normal school in that city.  He then taught school for seven years.  In 1866 he commenced the study of medicine in Chicago, entering the Rush Medical College, where he continued for two years.  He then entered the drug business, in which he remained until 1873. Dr. Maclean next entered the Bennett Medical College, at which he graduated in 187__.  He entered upon the practice of medicine in Douglas, Michigan, remaining there until 1879, when he came to California, locating in San Francisco.

     Dr. Maclean is the President and Dean of the California Medical College, having held this position since 1879.  For about ten years he filled the chairs of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  For the past year he has given up the latter chair, holding that on Obstetrics only.  He is president of the board of Examiners of the Eclectic Medical Society of California, a member of the State Medical Society of California, and of the National Eclectic Medical Association.
