SEELY F. LONG, M.D.
Seely F. Long, M.D., whose office is at 14 Grant avenue, San Francisco, has been a resident of California for the past thirteeen (sic) years, and has practiced medicine in San Francisco for the past nine years. He was born in St. John's, New Brunswick, in 1855, and is of German and English descent, his ancestors having been early settlers of New England. About the close of the Revolutionary war, being in sympathy with the English government, they left the United States and removed to New Brunswick, where the family have remained, many members of it, however, having returned to this country within the last fifty years.
Dr. Long received his early education in the schools of New Brunswick, and
commenced the study of medicine in January, 1878, under the preceptorship
of Dr. S. B. Foster of Eureka, Humboldt county,
California. Soon afterward he entered the medical department of the
University of California, where he attended two courses of lectures. In
1880 he went to New York and entered the medical department of the University
of the City of New York, where he graduated after the usual course, in 1881,
receiving his degree as Doctor of Medicine. He returned at once after
graduation to California, and entered into private
practice in San Francisco, where he has built up a large and lucrative
patronage. Dr. Long is a member of the State and County Medical Societies, of
the Masonic, the Odd Fellows, the Knights of Pythias,
and other fraternal societies.
