FREDERICK
WILLIAM KNIGHT
Frederick
William Knight, printer, was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on May 9, 1887; the son
of Henry and Emily Ann (Burley) Knight. He obtained his education at the
University of Utah (Salt Like City).
Mr. Knight began his career in
association with the Payot Upham
Company, Printers and Stationers. Then, in successive order, he was associated
with Shreve & Co., Jewelers and Social Stationers; Cooper Advertising
Agency, Mysell Rollins Bank Note Co., Lithographers.
In 1911 he established the Fred W. Knight Company Printers. From 1918 to 1942
he was a partner in the printing and lithographing company of Knight-Counihan Company, acting as administrator, sales manager
and treasurer. In 1943 he became sales executive for the Schwabacher
Frey Company. Collateral business activities Paterson Parchment Paper Co., Butter
Wrappers; Kleenstik Products Inc., pressure-sensitive
“Point of Sale” advertising products; and the Estates Co., real estate.
Affiliations: San Francisco Chamber
of Commerce, San Francisco Advertising Club, San Francisco Chapter American Red
Cross, San Francisco Y.M.C.A., Executives Association of San Francisco (past
president), San Francisco Commercial Club, Union League Club of San Francisco
(vice president), and the Press and Union League Club. Fraternal: Excelsior
Lodge No. 166, F. & A.M. (past master), California Chapter No. 5 Royal Arch
Masons, California Council No. 2 Royal and Select Masters of California,
California Commandery No.1, Knights Templar (past
commander, past prelate), Commandery Chapter, Order
of De Molay (chairman advisory board).
Mr. Knight married Evelyn Loder (deceased) and has one daughter, Evelyn Annabelle
(Mrs. Harry Quentin Johnson). He makes his home at the Press and Union League
Club, 555 Post St., San Francisco, California.
