HARLEY HISE

 

 

            Harley Hise, government official and business executive, as born in Houston, Indiana, January 26, 1890, the son of James Martin and Sarah Ann (Brown) Hise.

            He received his education in high school, business college, and doing special work in accounting and law.

            Mr. Hise began his career as a clerk in the auditing division, Department of Justice, Washington, D. C., 1913-18; then land bank examiner and later chief examiner of board, for Federal Farm Loan Board, 1919-22; vice president and manager of Pacific Coast Joint Stock Land Bank of San Francisco (merged with Pacific Coast Joint Stock Land Bank of Los Angeles), 1922-38; vice president and manager of Mercantile Mortgage Company; vice president and member of Executive Committee of Real Estate Loan Department, American Trust Company, San Francisco, 1927-29.  He was trustee of Reclamation Districts 2058 and 2062, San Joaquin County, California, 1925-40; appointed custodian in receivership of Pacific States Savings & Loan Company, State Building and Loan Commissioner of California, 1940-43.  He was vice president and director of Pacific Coast Mortgage Company, Bankamerica Company, and Golden Gate Ferry Company; president and director of Western Lands Securities Company; Director of General Metals Corporation, San Francisco; vice president and director of Reclaimed Island Lands Company, and Sears Point Toll Road Company, Vallejo and Marin Counties, California.  He was appointed as member of Board of Directors of Reconstruction Finance Corporation, July 1947, was designated chairman of the Board of Reconstruction Finance Corporation, August 1948; his term expired October, 1950.  He is president and director of Northern California Mortgage Company, San Francisco.

            Mr. Hise is a Democrat; belongs to the Christian Church; and a Mason (32nd degree Shriner).

            On July 24, 1915, he married Grace Greenlaw.  Their home is in San Francisco, California, at 1880 Jackson Street.
