HARRY HENRY HILP
Harry
Henry Hilp, chairman of the Board of Barrett & Hilp, contractors, was born in San Francisco, California,
on August 1, 1888; the son of Henry and Emma (Greenberg) Hilp.
His preparatory education was obtained
at the University of California at Berkeley.
Mr. Hilp was
associated with Mahony Brothers, builders, at San
Francisco, California, from 1906 to 1910; superintendent for Lachman Estate and attended University of California,
Berkeley, from 1910 to 1913; and has been general partner of Barrett & Hilp 1913 to 1947, and chairman of the Board of Barrett
& Hilp from 1947 on.
Treasurer of Riverside Elevators;
member of Board of Trustees of College of Physicians & Surgeons, president
of Board of Trustees of California School of Mechanical Arts; member and
national director of Association of General Contractors of America; member and
former governor of Employers Council of San Francisco; member of American
Society of Civil Engineers.
Mr. Hilp is a
Republican. Member of the following clubs: Concordia-Argonaut, Lake Merced Golf
and Country, Stock Exchange, Engineers (San Francisco, California); and Meadow
(Marin County, California).
On September 3, 1916, Mr. Hilp married Adelaide Woolenberg
and they have three children: Barbara (Mrs. Robert H. F. Smith), Harry III, and
Marjorie (Mrs. Theodore Rhodes).
