Biographies
WILLIAM A. HARVEY, M.D.
WILLIAM A. HARVEY,
M.D., whose office is at No. 112 Grant Avenue,
San Francisco, has been a resident of California
since 1884, and engaged in the practice of medicine since 1888. He was born in Monticello,
Missouri, in 1866, the son of Doctor
J. W. Harvey, a native of Bethlehem, Indiana,
and of English Quaker descent, his ancestors having come to America
with William Penn. He has practiced
medicine for the past twenty-five years in Iowa
and Missouri, and is a graduate
of the American Medical
College and later a post-graduate
of the California Medical
College. He is now practicing in Anderson, Shasta county. William
received his early education in the public schools of Edina,
Missouri, and later in the Oak Hill College
of Edina, where he graduated in 1883. He
then commenced the study of medicine in the office of his father, which he
continued after coming to California
in 1884, and until he entered the California
Medical College
in 1886, where he graduated 1888. He
then engaged in the practice of medicine with Dr. Logan, of San
Francisco. Dr.
Harvey, during the absence of the regular professor in Europe,
during the year 1890, filled the chair of chemistry in the California
Medical College. He is at present lecturing on microscopy and
histology at the same college. He was
also a member of the class of 1890 in the College
of Pharmacy, a branch of the
University of the State of California. Since November, 1888, he has been a member
and Recording Secretary of the State Eclectic Medical Society of
California. Dr. Harvey is also Visiting
Physician to the Home for Invalids, corner of Thirteenth and Howard streets, San
Francisco.
