EDWARD F. FORD

Edward F. Ford, who is associated as an electrical engineer with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company of San Francisco, California, was born in Sherman, Texas, November 30, 1882, and is a son of the late William C. and Minerva J. (Cooper) Ford, the former having been a native of Virginia and the latter of Tennessee. William C. Ford was a soldier in the Confederate Army during the Civil war.

Edward F. Ford attended grade and high schools in the state of Texas, and took a course in electrical engineering at the University of California. He had come to San Francisco in 1905, in which year he first became associated with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company, and during the succeeding years he has been regularly promoted to his present responsible position. He has proved highly efficient in electrical engineering, as indicated in this long retention by one of the country’s most important organizations of its kind.

Mr. Ford was married to Miss Zoe Gibbs, a native of Petaluma, California, where her parents were also born. Her grandparents crossed the western plains in the early days. Five children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Ford, as follows: Russell E., Francis G., John H., Allen R., and Marjorie.

Mr. Ford is an honorary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. During the period of the United States’ participation in the World war, he was very active in the Red Cross drives in San Francisco; and served subsequently as colonel of the ninth division in the Community Chest drive for funds. He is president of the 23 Assembly Club, Incorporated. In politics, Mr. Ford is affiliated with the republican party. His greatest enjoyment in life is the companionship of his family. In sports life he is a devotee of fishing and deer hunting. He has always given commendable attention to his duties as a citizen of the bay district, and his loyalty and public spirit have been unquestioned.
