JAMES A.
FOLGER
James A.
Folger, president of Folger
Coffee Company, was born in Dinard, France, on
October 5, 1900. He is the son of James Athearn and
Clara (Luning) Folger. His
parents were American citizens sojourning in France at the time of his birth.
His preparatory education was
obtained at Yale University from which he graduated in 1922 with the Bachelor
of Arts Degree.
Mr. Folger
became associated with the Folger Coffee Company of
San Francisco (California) in 1923, beginning as clerk and becoming president
in 1936. He resigned his business position in 1942 and became priorities
district manager for the War Production Board in San Francisco, then regional
director in 1943, and was vice-chairman for field operations, Washington, D.C.,
from 1944 to 1945, resigning in November of 1945. He has been president of the Folger Coffee Company of San Francisco (California) and
Kansas City (Missouri) since January of 1946. Mr. Folger
is also director of Wells Fargo Bank & Union Trust Company and the Western
Pacific Railroad Company, both of San Francisco.
Member of the following clubs:
Pacific-Union Golf of San Francisco and Burlingame Club of California.
On October 25, 1924, Mr. Folger married Jane Carrigan.
Their children are Jane (Mrs. James Carrigan), Sarah
Ann and Claire Dean.
