C. C. FIRTH, M. D.
C. C. Firth, M.D., whose office is at No. 109 Montgomery
street, San Francisco, has been a resident of California since 1873, and has
been engaged in the practice of medicine since 1878. He was born in
Lexington, Kentucky, in 1854, and is of Scotch descent, his grandparents having
come from that country and located in Virginia, and later in Kentucky.
Our subject received his early education in the public schools of Lexington,
and later attended the Eastern College of Richmond, Indiana, where he graduated
in 1877. He had commenced the study of medicine some years previously under the
preceptorship of his father, Dr. C. C. Firth, of Lexington, Kentucky, and
afterward entered the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New York city,
graduating at that school in 1879, and receiving the degree of Doctor of
Medicine. He then went to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he entered the Ohio
Medical College, and also graduated at that institution in 1881. He
commenced the practice of his profession in Fort Wayne, and for several years
was engaged in different parts of the Western States and Territories. In
1873 Dr. Firth came to California, where he has since practiced continuously in
San Francisco, except in 1888-9 when he was in Alaska. For one term, in
1882-3, he held the position of Demonstrator of Anatomy at the Rush Medical
College of Chicago. He is a member of the State Medical Society of
California.
