ADRIEN J. FALK

 

 

Adrien J. Falk, president of S. & W. Fine Foods, Inc., was born December 9, 1884, in San Francisco, California. The son of Jerome and Jennie (Lindheimer) Falk; he received his education in the public grade ad high schools.

            Mr. Falk began his career in 1899 as an office boy. He became associated with S. & W. Fine Foods, Inc., in 1906 and has been a director since 1927 and president since 1946. He is also director of Anglo California National Bank; member of Advisory Committee of the Loan Agency, Reconstruction Finance Corporation; director of Mount Zion Hospital (president, 1944); vice president of San Francisco Federated Fund; member of Board of Governors of Bay Area Council; and president of California State Chamber of Commerce, 1951-52.

            Mr. Falk was formerly president of San Francisco Community Chest, 1948-49; president of San Francisco Board of Education, 1947 and 1949, and member of the Board for five years; president of San Francisco Chamber of Commerce in 1944; campaign chairman of National Jewish Welfare Fund in 1941; president of San Francisco Board of Trade in 1933. He is a director of San Francisco Distributors Association; vice president of San Francisco Employers Council; and member of the Advisory Committee of San Francisco State College.

            Former member of Advisory Council on Social Security, United States Senate Finance Commission; chairman of Citizens Postwar Planning Committee in 1945; former member of Northern California State Management-Labor War Manpower Committee; former chief deputy air raid warden in San Francisco; former member of State Advisory Council on Unemployment Insurance; and chairman of Conference for the Problems of the Aging, called by Governor Warren in Sacramento on October 15 and 16, 1951.

            Mr. Falk’s hobby is horses and dogs. He holds membership in the following clubs: Concordia-Argonaut (past president), Elks, Menlo Circus, Commonwealth, Stock Exchange, and San Francisco Commercial. He is a Mason and Shriner.

            On November 7, 1929, Mr. Falk married Helen Ruth Flanagan; step-son, James P. Jones.
