PETER F.
DUNNE
Peter F.
Dunne, attorney, son of Peter F. and Margaret (Bergin) Dunne, was born in San
Francisco, California, on December 29, 1860. He passed away September 25, 1933.
His preparatory education was
obtained at St. Ignatius University from which he graduated in 1878, receiving
the B.A. and M.A. degrees. His legal education was obtained at Hastings Law
School where he received his LL.B. degree and was admitted to the California
bar in 1882.
Mr. Dunne began the general practice
of law in San Francisco in 1882 and subsequently became senior partner in the
firm of Dunne and McPike. When that firm was
dissolved he then practiced alone until 1900, as which time he became general
attorney for the Southern Pacific Company and remained in that capacity until
1910. He then became a senior member of the firm of Morrison, Dunne & Brobeck and when that firm was dissolved on December 31,
1924, he was with the firm of Dunn, Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison for one year, then formed the firm
of Dunne, Dunne & Cook, which continued until his death in 1933.
He held membership in the American
Academy of Political and Social Science; California Academy of Sciences;
American Bar Association, State Bar of California, San Francisco Bar Association;
and the following clubs: Pacific Union, Bohemian, Olympic, Commonwealth, San
Francisco Golf and Country, and Menlo Golf and Country. His relaxation was
found in traveling extensively all over the world.
On June 28, 1898, Mr. Dunne married
Anne C. Haehnlen and they were the parents of three
children: Arthur Bergin, born in 1899; Marian D. (Mrs. Connelly), born in 1900;
and Marjorie D. (Mrs. Lindner) born in 1901.
