LELAND WHITMAN CUTLER

 

 

            Leland Whitman, Cutler, chairman of San Francisco World Trade Center Authority, was born in Colusa, California, on January 14, 1885, the son of George Leland and Elda (Durham) Cutler.

            Graduate from Leland Stanford Junior University in 1906 with the degree of A. B.

Cutler began his career in 1905 as a newspaper reporter; then was in the manufacturing of brick and clay products from 1907 to 1909; in the insurance and surety bond business since1909.  He is vice president of the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland and the American Bonding Company of Baltimore.  Chairman of the California Commission to the Century of Progress Exposition at Chicago; vice president and member of Financial Advisory Committee of San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge; and served as campaign chairman for the San Francisco Community Chest for two years.

Mr. Cutler is chairman of the San Francisco World Trade Center Authority, a duly constituted California State agency; trustee and vice chairman of the Board of Leland Stanford Junior University; trustee of Leland Stanford Junior Kindergarten Trust; president of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce for three terms; president of San Francisco Bay Exposition

Member of Disciples of Christ Church; Republican; and member of the Pacific Union and Family (past president, director) Clubs.

On October 3, 1916, Mr. Cutler married Ethel Pierce and has three children, Jane Le, Leland Whitman Jr. and Mary Ellen.
