CHARLES STUART CUSHING.

A native son of California who has attained a large measure of success in the practice of law in that state is Charles S. Cushing, member of the firm of Cushing & Cushing, of San Francisco. Possessed of great energy and perseverance, and a close student of his profession, he early made a name for himself among his colleagues, and assumed a prominent position in legal circles.

Mr. Cushing was born in 1867 in San Francisco, and received his early educational training in public grammar and high schools of that city and Oakland. He later engaged in the study of law and was admitted to the California bar in 1891, becoming associated in practice with Michael Mullany and William Grant.

In 1893 Mr. Cusing became a member of the firm of Mullany, Grant & Cushing, which was joined by his brother, O. K. Cushing, three years later. The firm dissolved upon the death of Mr. Mullany in 1903, and Mr. Cushing has since practiced in partnership with his brother under the present firm name of Cushing & Cushing. They engage in general civil practice, specializing in corporation, banking and probate law, and represent as Counsel a number of important interests, including the United Bank & Trust Company of San Francisco.

Mr. Cushing served as a member of the State Board of Bar Examiners by appointment of the Supreme Court for five years. He is a member of the American Bar Association, California State Bar Association, which he served as President in 1918 and 1919, and the Bar Association of San Francisco. He is also a member of the Bohemian Club. In 1903 he married Anne Sessions.
