BARTLEY C. CRUM

Bartley C. Crum, attorney of San Francisco, has been associated in practice with John Francis Neylan since his admission to the bar in 1924. He was born in Sacramento, California, November 28, 1900, his parents being James H. and Emma G. (Cavanaugh) Crum, also natives of Sacramento. George W. Crum, his great-grandfather in the paternal line, made many trips across the plains and eventually took up his abode among the pioneer settlers of Sacramento, California. Andrew George, another great-grandfather of B. C. Crum in the paternal line, came to California in 1853 and founded a town, a few miles south of Sacramento, which was formerly called Georgetown and is now known as Franklin. Mr. and Mrs. George W. Crum, great-grandparents of Bartley C. Crum, removed from California to Nevada, in which state they acquired extensive land interests, and they were also owners of numerous large holdings near Sacramento. James H. Crum, father of Mr. Crum of this review, became a ranchman of the Sacramento valley, where both he and his wife still reside.

Bartley C. Crum pursued his early education in the public schools of Sacramento, and following his graduation from the high school in 1918 enrolled as a student at the University of California, from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1922, while two years later the same institution conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. He was admitted to the bar in 1924 and has since practiced his chosen profession as an associate of John Francis Neylan, having an office in the Crocker First National Bank building. His name is on the membership rolls of the San Francisco Bar Association. He is an instructor in the extension department of the University of California and is a student of Latin and Greek.

Mr. Crum married Miss Anna G. Bosworth, a native of San Francisco and a graduate of the University of California. He was a popular member of the Bohemian Club of San Francisco.
