ROBERT H.
BORLAND
Now engaged successfully in the general practice of law in San Francisco is Robert H. Borland, whose offices are at 315 Montgomery street. He was born in the province of Ontario, Canada, October 11, 1884, and is a son of William James and Martha (Prettie) Borland. The father, who was a school teacher, came to California in 1888, and was followed by his wife, with three children, in 1894. She arrived in San Bernardino on Christmas eve of the latter year. Mr. and Mrs. William J. Borland were the parents of four children. Every member of the family now living, the father having reached his seventy-second year.
Robert H. Borland attended the grade and high schools of San Bernardino, and graduated from the latter in 1903. He then entered Stanford University, from which institution he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1908 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1909. He was admitted to the California state bar in 1909, and since June 1st of that year has been in the general practice of law in San Francisco. He is serving a large clientele, and has a substantial reputation in this city, having successfully conducted much litigation of importance.
On April 26, 1914, in San Francisco, occurred the marriage of Mr. Borland and Miss Anna Mason, the latter a native of San Francisco, and a daughter of Alonzo and Mary E. (Reegan) Mason. They have one daughter, Virginia. The family home is at 2362 Vallejo street.
In his religious views, Mr. Borland is a Protestant. Politically he is a republican. Fraternally he is identified with the following Masonic bodies: California Lodge, No. 1, F. & A. M., of which he is past master; California Chapter, No. 5, R. A. M.; California Commandery, No. 1, K. T.; and Islam Temple of the Mystic Shrine. He finds his greatest recreation in his country home in Marin, county, California. He has enjoyed a most satisfying degree of popularity, both professionally and socially.
