CAPTAIN HANS H. BIRKHOLM
CAPTAIN HANS H.
BIRKHOLM, the popular proprietor of the well-known Yosemite Hotel, on
market near Jones street,
San Francisco, was born in Denmark
in 1847. He was reared and educated in his native country, and, on
reaching manhood, in 1869, came to the United
States. He engaged in the coasting
trade for ten or twelve years was captain of different vessels, doing a large
carrying trade in lumber and coal, chiefly lumber. He successfully
conducted this business until 1886, when he was induced to remain on
shore. At that time he opened the Yosemite Hotel, which he has since
conducted. It contains 180 rooms, is one of the largest hotels in the
city, and under the Captain’s efficient management has a well-earned
reputation. The whole establishment is under his personal supervision, and
guests are always sure of prompt and courteous attention.
Captain Birkholm belongs to the Master Mariners’ Society, to the I.
O. O. F. and the A. O. U. W.
