GEORGE ADAM, M. D.
GEORGE ADAM, M. D.,
whose office is at room 30, Philadelphia
building, San Francisco, has been a
resident of California since
1872, and engaged in the practice of medicine since 1882. He was born in Elgin,
Scotland, in 1846. His early education was received in the
public schools of his native place, graduating at the grammar schools. He first studied law in Scotland
for five years, and for several years later he was engaged in various
mercantile pursuits. In 1876 he
commenced the study of medicine at the pacific Medical
College, now the Cooper
Medical College,
which he attended for two years. He then
received the appointment of interne at the United
States Marine Hospital,
where he remained one year. He then went
to Philadelphia and entered the Jefferson
Medical College,
where he graduated in 1882, receiving his degree as Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Adam practiced near Carthage,
Missouri, four years, and then went to Scotland,
attending lectures at the royal College
of Physicians, and also attended
the hospital clinics of that city. After
this he returned to San Francisco,
where he has been engaged in private practice since that time. He is a member of the State Medical Society
of California, and of the County Medical Society of San Francisco.
Dr. Adam’s family
have been residents of Morayshire for many
generations, and the family trace their ancestors back for over 200 years; in
fact during all these years the family have occupied the same homestead on
which our subject was born.
