AUGUSTUS A. SCHOENHEIT

Augustus A. Schoenheit, manager of the drug and manufacturing business established by his father, was born in San Jose August 21, 1872, and owes his education, business training and subsequent prominence in the business world to the opportunities of his native town. After completing the course in the Santa Clara College in 1892, and in 1893 took active management of the drug business, with which he began to familiarize himself in childhood. During the eleven years of his control many changes have been brought about, the capacity of the plant has been increased and newer and more expeditious methods have been adopted. In 1896 Mr. Schoenheit added a department of photographic supplies, which, from a small beginning, has taken on large proportions, and supplies a considerable yearly income. He represents Eastman’s line of goods and carries everything required by people engaged in the delightful art of photography. Mr. Schoenheit is a remarkably progressive and energetic man, possessing shrewd business and general ability, and making his influence felt in many departments of town life. He is the treasurer of the San Jose branch of the National Association of Retail Druggists, and is a member of the Merchants’ Association. In politics he is a Republican, and in religion is a member of the Presbyterian Church. Fraternally he is connected with San Jose Lodge No. 125, K. of P. Mr. Schoenheit married, in San Jose, Winifred MacLeod, a native of Somersville, Cal., and daughter of Mrs. E. MacLeod, now of Cupertino. One child has been born to Mr. and Mrs. Schoenheit, Helen Marr. Mr. Schoenheit represents the sturdy, honorable and capable young business men who owe their origin to Teutonic parents, and who are enabled to expend their zeal in a sure and established occupation. That his lines have fallen in fortunate and pleasant places cannot be denied, but that his opportunities are as great as those of his sire along experimental and humanitarian lines is a truism equally worthy of attention.
