FRANK
W. MILLER
A
young man of marked ability, of enterprise and progression, Frank W. Miller is numbered
among the native sons of Santa Clara county who do
honor to their home community by their lives of quiet yet earnest citizenship.
In addition of a general merchandise business which he has conducted for some
years, he is now acting as clerk in charge of Sub-station No. 2, having
previously served until January 1, 1901, as postmaster at what was known as
Willow Glen postoffice. (sic)
Born near Milpitas, Santa Clara county, March 4, 1877, Mr. Miller is the son of
Daniel Miller, a native of Elkhart county, Ind., and his wife, formerly Frances
Jane Marsh.
In
a family of three sons and two daughters, Mr. Miller was the second child. In
youth he attended the common schools of the county, after which he entered the
Pacific Coast Commercial college, taking a business
course in 1898. Upon the conclusion of his work in 1899 he purchased the
general merchandise business conducted by A. E. Winlow,
located on the corner of Cherry and Minnesota avenues, and on December 1 of the same year he was appointed postmaster of Willow Glen. He
discharged these duties in connection with his commercial affairs until January
1, 1901, when this postoffice (sic) was made a
sub-station of San Jose. Mr. Miller was then given the position of clerk in
charge of this department, which position he has since maintained with
efficiency.
In
this city Mr. Miller was united in marriage with Annie E. Gatjen,
a native of Martinez, Cal., and the daughter of Henry Gatjen,
who died in East San Jose February 9, 1904. Mr. Miller is quite prominent
fraternally, being a member of the Royal Arcanum and Foresters of America and
the American Order of Protection. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal
Church of San Jose, and politically casts his ballot in the interests of the
Republican party.
