DOCTOR RUSSEL VAN ARSDALE LEE

 

 

Russel Van Arsdale Lee, physician, was born in Spanish Fork, Utah, May 10, 1895; the son of the Reverend Theodore and Anna M. (Wray) Lee.

      He received his B.S. from University of California (Berkeley) in 1917 and his M.D. from Stanford University in 1920.

      After serving his internship at San Francisco and Stanford-Lane Hospitals, San Francisco, 1918 to 1920, Dr. Lee engaged in private practice of medicine at San Francisco from 1920 to 1924, and at Palo Alto, California, since 1924.

      Dr. Lee has been president of the Palo Alto (California) Clinic since 1931; on staff of Palo Alto and Stanford Hospitals and also visiting physician at San Francisco Hospital. He was an instructor at Stanford Medical School, 1920-22 and 1922-27, assistant professor and associate professor of Medicine since 1929. Served as colonel with the Medical Corps, Army Air Forces, 1942 to 1945, and chief of preventive medicine in 1945.

      Dr. Lee has been chairman of the Palo Alto Planning Commission since 1947. Member of American Medical Association; Army Air Forces Association; California Academy of Medicine; Bohemian, and Commonwealth (chairman of Atomic Bomb Section) Clubs, both of San Francisco.

      He is a contributor of technical articles to Journal of American Medical Association, California Medical Association Journal, etc.

      On August 15, 1918, Dr. Lee married Dorothy Womack and they have five children: Richard S., Peter Van Arsdale, Jr., Philip R., Russel H. and Margaret G.
