Biographies
ROBERT M. BRADLEY, JR.
Robert M.
Bradley, Jr., is an attorney at law practicing in Redlands, California,
with offices in the V. L. Gregory building.
He is a native son of the state, born at San
Bernardino on June 25, 1901, a son of Robert M. Bradley, who was
born in Iowa and is now actively engaged in
the real estate business in Huntington
Beach. The
mother was in maidenhood Elizabeth Lightfoot Curtis, of San Bernardino. Her grandfather, I. H. Curtis, organized the
first Baptist Church
in San Bernardino
in 1862. Mrs. Bradley is one of the best
known women in her community, and was supervisor of attendance in connection
with the public schools for many years.
She is also an authority on wild flowers of California and is a member of the Samuel B.
Parish Botanical Society. Mr. and Mrs.
Robert M. Bradley are the parents of three children: Robert M. Jr., of this review; Elizabeth, the
wife of Chester Ferris, a banker of Santa Barbara,
California; and Mildred, who graduated from
the San Bernardino
high school.
After
completing the high school course at San Bernardino,
Robert M. Bradley, Jr., entered the University
of Redlands from which he
graduated with the Bachelor of Arts degree with the Class of 1924. He then entered the University of Southern
California law school and received his degree of Bachelor of Laws in 1927. While he was attending the University of Redlands
he was a member of the Phi Chi fraternity, and he also has membership in the
honorary dramatic society Delta Alpha Phi, the legal fraternity of Gamma Eta
Gamma, and the honorary legal Fraternity Skull and Scales. He worked his way through the college and was
a member of the football team. He was admitted
to the bar of California in 1928 and at once began practice in San
Bernardino continuing for one year, when he located in Redlands, where he is
actively engaged in practice independently.
On August
29, 1930, in Riverside, California,
Robert M. Bradley, Jr., was united in marriage with Miss Helen Beattie, a
daughter of George W. and Nellie (Pruitt) Bettie, who
settled in East Highlands about the year
1889. For about eight years Mr. Beattie
was a well-known educator in the Philippine Islands, but returned to California about 1916,
where he has since been closely identified with his adopted state. Mrs. Beattie is prominent in the Women’s
Clubs of California. Helen Beattie was
graduated from the Redlands high school and then
from Pomona College
at Claremont, California.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Bradley, Jr., have a son, Robert William Bradley,
born September 6, 1933. Mr. Bradley is a
member of the Town Club, the San Bernardino County Bar Association and the
California State Bar Association.
