Harold
J. McCurry, a representative citizen of Sacramento, is now serving as
postmaster, and is also president of the McCurry Photo Company, one of the
leading commercial photography concerns of the city. His active interest in
civic affairs is shown by his participation in all worthy movements of his
residence community, and he is now president of the Sacramento Chamber of
Commerce. He was president of the local community chest drives in 1923 and
1924, an in 1917 he was president of the Home Products League. He is now
president of the board of managers of the Napa State Hospital.
The
birth of Harold J. McCurry occurred in Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, in 1885,
and he is a son of Dr. J. M. and Alice McCurry. He came from Pennsylvania to
California in 1890, and was educated in the public schools of Oakland, of San
Luis Obispo, and in the Illinois College of Photography at Effingham, Illinois.
Mr. McCurry is a member of the Masonic Fraternity, in which he has attained the
thirty-second degree of the Scottish Rite, and belongs to Ben Ali Temple of the
Mystic Shrine. He also is a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks,
and the Sutter and Rotary Clubs of Sacramento.
On
May 13, 1917, Mr. McCurry was married to Miss Louise Schaal, and they become
the parents of two children: Harold James, Jr. and Robert Owen McCurry.
