WRIGHT & KIMBROUGH

The pioneer realty firm of Sacramento is that of Wright & Kimbrough. The business was established in 1892 by Charles E. Wright, who began operating in a small way at 1011 Fourth street. From the outset, however, he progressed, his patronage growing month by month, and after about three years he was joined on the 1st of May, 1895 by Howard Kimbrough in a partnership relation that led to the adoption of the firm style of Wright & Kimbrough. At the outset they conducted a brokerage business but later purchased real estate within the city limits and opened various subdivisions which are known as Wright & Kimbrough tracts Nos. 17, 19, 20 and 24. They paid three hundred dollars per acre in track No .24, a district that is now improved with homes erected at a cost of two million dollars. The company has built four hundred and fifty-three homes and has financed twenty-five hundred others. They have subdivided and sold as owner and agent thirty-three different tracts and no other single agency has contributed in so large a measure to the material development, improvement and upbuilding of Sacramento as has the firm of Wright & Kimbrough. Their business is now divided into sic departments--city real estate, farm lands, rental and leasing, insurance, building and advertising. Each department is well organized and under careful guidance the business has grown by leaps and bounds, ever maintaining its place of leadership in realty circles of the capital city. This firm promoted the construction of the Free Market building on J street at a cost of half a million dollars and other large buildings and real estate deals in the city. On the 26th of May, 1907, A. R. Gallaway, Jr., joined the firm as a salesman and his connection therewith has continued until as a partner in the enterprise he is contributing materially to its success. In May, 1908, W. C. Wright also began working for the company and in March, 1912, these two young men purchased a half interest in the business and in October, 1920, became its sole owners. They have maintained the unsullied reputation which has always been borne by the firm and which has given the name of Wright & Kimbrough the place of leadership among the realtors of Sacramento.
