DALTON G. FELDSTEIN

 

 

            Dalton G. Feldstein, president and owner of Dalton Motors, Inc., DeSoto Plymouth Agency, was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on November 11, 1903. The son of Jacob and Ethel (Stern) Feldstein.  He is a graduate of Dubuque (Iowa) High School.

            Mr. Feldstein started as a salesman with Willys Overland, Inc., in 1919 and was promoted to a position in 1924 that made him in charge of their wholesale sales, and in 1927 he became district manager.  In 1929 he joined the Chrysler Corporation, DeSoto Division, as district manager for Northern California, and in 1933 became assistant general sales manager for the DeSoto Motor Corporation with offices in Detroit, Michigan.  He resigned in 1937 to organize his own business known as Dalton Motors, Inc., Sacramento, California (automobile sales and service firm), of which he is president and owner.  He later organized the Dalton Investment Company and Dalton Equipment Company; and is a partner in the Golden Lumber Company.

            Mr. Feldstein is president of the Sacramento County Branch of American Cancer Society, and of Temple B’nai Israel; past president of Sacramento County Community Chest, and of Northern California DeSoto-Plymouth Dealers; served on the boards of:  Crippled Children’s Society, Appeals Review Board (second vice president, 1951), Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, Sacramento County Community Chest (chairman of 1948 fund-raising drive; first to reach and exceed quota that year), National Community Chests and Councils of America, Sacramento State College, Mercy Hospital, City of Hope, Community Welfare Council, DeSoto Motor Car Dealers Association, and State College Council (appointed by Governor Warren).

            On March 19, 1951, he was honored at a public luncheon.  Some seven hundred of his fellow townsmen paid tribute to him as a civic leader and presented him with a watch bearing an engraved inscription attesting his civic leadership.  Governor Earl Warren, state, county and city officials were present.

            Member of Sutter Club, Elks Club; Ben Ali Temple of Mystic Shrine; and is of Jewish Church affiliation.  His hobby is boating an he is the owner of a38-foot Richardson Cruiser.

            Mr. Feldstein married Joyce Mell on August 17, 1940, and has two daughters, June, age eleven, and Sabra, age seven.  Their home is in Sacramento, California, at 1318 Forty-fifty Street.
