DAVID FALCONER
DAVID FALCONER. Known
as one of the most reliable contractors and builders of Sacramento,
David Falconer enjoys a profitable patronage in this city, where he has been
located since 1877. Inheriting from sturdy Scotch ancestors the
characteristics which have distinguished his career, he was born in Scotland
in 1851, and in his native country spent the years of his boyhood. He
received a limited education during the six years in which he attended the
common schools, entering at the age of seven years and leaving at
thirteen. In 1873 he emigrated to the United
States, and from New York City went
direct to Cleveland, Ohio. He
remained in that location until 1877, when he came to Sacramento
and has since made this place his home. As a contractor and builder he has
erected many of the finest residences in this city, besides various school
houses, churches, theatres, bridges and public works. During the busy
season he employs quite a force of men. Mr. Falconer is not only a practical
business man, but a skilled workman, quick of thought and action, faithful,
honest and reliable, and a man whose integrity is never called in
question. He takes an active interest in all public matters and great
pride in the city of his home.
Mr. Falconer’s home is at No. 811 Seventh street, Sacramento. In 1882 he married Daisy Melvin, a native of New York. Fraternally he is identified with the Knights of Pythias. Mr.
Falconer is a self-educated man, and being an extensive reader is well
acquainted on subjects in general and is a lover of all good books. He is
a man of strong convictions and is not easily swerved from a point he thinks
right, and although conservative is still progressive and public spirited.
